Welcome to the website of the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Türkiye to the United Nations Office in Geneva. Our Permanent Mission represents Türkiye at a total of 39 different organizations based in Switzerland, one of the global centers of diplomacy.

These include international organizations within the UN system, the Conference on Disarmament (CD), the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), and the Universal Postal Union (UPU) in Bern.

Among the main organizations within the UN system to which we are accredited are the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), the International Labour Organization (ILO), the World Health Organization (WHO), the International Telecommunication Union, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and the World Meteorological Organization.

The World Trade Organization (WTO), the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) fall outside our mandate.

The international environment is undergoing a challenging transformation. As Türkiye, we strive to ensure that the United Nations is equipped with capabilities that meet the requirements of the era and can more effectively address the challenges facing humanity, while working towards a fairer world order. This involves positioning Türkiye appropriately within this system.

Together with my esteemed colleagues, we engage with the organizations in Geneva, which form the "kitchen" and operational power of the multilateral global diplomatic system.

Geneva hosts approximately 5,000 meetings annually, with over 500,000 representatives participating. The city is home to over 32,000 international civil servants, diplomats, and NGO representatives, and annually hosts more than 4,000 heads of state, government leaders, ministers, and other dignitaries for various occasions.

Our Permanent Mission actively participates in the activities and negotiations of these international organizations, which operate across a wide range of regional and global thematic issues from health to humanitarian aid, telecommunications to meteorology, human rights to migration, and disarmament to development. We do so in coordination and cooperation with almost every ministry and organization within our Presidential government system. These international organizations, both within and outside the UN, implement tangible regulations and activities that become part of our daily lives and the international environment. We endeavor to be actively and visibly involved in shaping international policies on these broad topics to meet the priorities and expectations of Türkiye.

We also work closely with the Grand National Assembly at the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), the center of global parliamentary diplomacy. I hope that the information available on our website will be useful in following both the activities of our Permanent Mission and the general framework of Turkish foreign policy.
