18 March Martyrs’ Day and 107th Anniversary of the Çanakkale Victory
Today on 18 March 2022, we commemorate the 107th anniversary of the Çanakkale Victory with great proud and excitement.
The March 18, 1915 victory was achieved through faith and resolution, gave our nation a massive moral boost that enabled it to wage a war of independence and eventually, in 1923, found the Republic of Türkiye.
On 18 March, we also commemorate our Martyrs’ Day. We remember with respect Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Türkiye, and martyrs during battles in Çanakkale.
We also commemorate all our martyrs, including our diplomats and their families who have fallen in various countries while they were representing our flag and our nation.
Since the 1970s, Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has lost more than 40 members in the attacks carried out by ASALA, JCAG, ARA and 17 November terrorist organizations.
A ceremony to commemorate our assassinated diplomats was held today at the Martyrs’ Cemetery of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Ankara as well as in our foreign missions all around the world.
On this occasion, we once again respectfully pay tribute to the sacred memories of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Türkiye and all of our martyrs. May they rest in peace.
